South Devon Players plan an Arthurian film and stage production
The South Devon Players are developing Mordred as both a feature-film project and a stage production rooted in Devon and Cornwall. The Brixham-based company’s plans draw on early Arthurian legends and the sixth-century setting of Dumnonia.
The story approaches the conflict through Mordred and his relationship with King Arthur, rather than treating him solely as a villain who appears at the end of the legend. Laura Jury is responsible for writing and direction, with Simon Knight as director of photography.
The company’s December announcement named Rich Sandford as Mordred and Gui Rivaud as Arthur. Filming was planned for May and June 2016, followed by theatre performances in September. Those dates describe the announced production schedule.
