Kosovo film “Shok” Oscar nominee

Short film “Shok” (Friend) is included in the list of 2016 Oscar Nominees. Based on a true story, “Shok” is written and directed by Jamie Donoughue. The film has been nominated among 4 other films for ‘Best Live Action Short Film’ at the 88th edition of Oscars. 

‘Shok’ is a short film set in Kosovo during the occupation in the 90’s, where the friendship of two boys is tested to its limits as they battle for survival during Kosovo war.

The film is a co-production between Kosovo and UK, produced by Eshref Durmishi and Harvey Ascott, supported by Kosovo Cinematography Center. Philip Robertson is the Director of Photography and Howard Dawson, Creative Producer.

‘Shok’ features talented actors such as Astrit Kabashi, Armond Morina, Lum Vesili, Andi Bajgora, Xhevdet Jashari, Eshref Durmishi, etc. Other cast includes: Sunaj Raca, Kushtrim Sheremeti, Luan Kreyziu, Melihate Qena, Aurita Agushi, Eni Cani, Fisnik Ademi, Besnik Krapi, and Ardit Tahiri.

Synopsis: In Kosovo in 1998, two young boys are best friends living normal lives, but as war engulfs their country, their daily existence becomes filled with violence and fear. Soon, the choices they make threaten not only their friendship, but their families and their lives.
