Serena Bucaj Crowned Miss New York USA 2016

Albanian-American beauty, Serena Bucaj was crowned Miss New York USA 2016 at the beauty pageant held on January 17, 2016.

She is working as a model at Major Model NYC. Serena will have the opportunity to compete at the 2016 Miss USA Pageant where she hopes to be crowned by the reigning Miss USA Olivia Jordan from Oklahoma.

The winner of Miss USA 2016 will go on to represent the United States in the Miss USA competition.

Do you have any special talents or hobbies?

Serena Bucaj: Singing, Baking, reading

Three words that best describe yourself.

Serena Bucaj: Three words to best describe me are Humble, Diligent and Accountable.

What person would you most like to meet and why?

Serena Bucaj: I would most like to meet Joel Osteen because his words have helped me in my most vulnerable moments.

What place in the world would you most like to visit and why?

Serena Bucaj: I would love to visit Albania because that is where my roots are from and where my father was born. I also hear it is a beautiful country.

What is your personal motto that best describes your view of life?

Serena Bucaj: My personal motto is to never give up on your dreams. If at first you don’t succeed try again!

What question have you never been asked that you want to answer?

Serena Bucaj: The question I have never been asked before that I would love to answer is: what life event has shaped you into the woman you are today?

Why would you like to be the next Miss USA?

Serena Bucaj: I would love to be the next Miss USA because I would be the first Albanian woman to represent the USA! I would also love to be an inspiration to younger woman to teach them to always be confident in your own skin.

What is the single most important message a title holder can convey?

Serena Bucaj: The single most important message a titleholder can convey is to always stay true to yourself. I often believe it’s your individual differences that make you stand out from others.

What would you most like to accomplish as Miss New York USA 2016?

Serena Bucaj: As Miss New York USA 2016 I would love the opportunity to bring awareness to my platform, The American Heart Association. Unfortunately my father past away 8 years ago of a sudden heart attack. I would talk about the importance of getting your heart checked regularly and in order to live a happy life you NEED to lead a healthy one. I would never want another family to experience the tragedies I have.

Do you think a college education is important to succeed in today’s society?

Serena Bucaj: Do I think a college education is important, yes. Do I think it’s necessary, no. There are many different career paths or passions in today’s society that don’t require a college degree. For example, entertainers, plumbers, electricians, restauranteurs need experience in their field or have trade schools that specialize in their field of interest.

People shouldn’t have to compromise who they are to get by in this world. Staying true to yourself is the most honest and natural approach to life.

What do you think about your family and Albanian origin?

Serena Bucaj: I think family is the most important thing in my life. Family gives you love, support, strength, encouragement and much more. Without my family I wouldn’t be where I am today nor would I be the woman I am today.

I am proud to be Albanian and proud to have been brought up with Albanian values, but I am also blessed that I was born and raised in the United States. I have the best of both worlds!

What quality do you possess that sets you apart from any other contestant?

Serena Bucaj: A quality I have that sets me apart from other would be I am adaptable. Adaptable because I genuinely enjoy experiencing new things. I believe you can send me to Africa and have little kids paint my face or to France in the middle of fashion week and I can truly become a part of each event.

What is your career ambition?

Serena Bucaj: My life ambition is to be happy and successful.

What do you want for your birthday this year?

Serena Bucaj: This year for my birthday I would love to be the new Miss USA 2016!

How do you define success?

Serena Bucaj: The way I define success is loving yourself, loving what you do and how you do it. Success and happiness is not defined by material objects or the amount of money you have. If I can wake up everyday doing what I love, be it my career, my passion or even a stay at home mom then I’ve reached ultimate success.

What is your most vivid childhood memory?

Serena Bucaj: My most vivid childhood memory is playing soccer with my father.

What do you hope to gain by entering this pageant?

Serena Bucaj: By competing in Miss New York USA I was able to gain confidence. Having confidence is something all women should have and it’s something we should be teaching our youth. It is a key component in your daily life.

If you could have dinner tonight with anyone person of your choice, who would it be and why?

Serena Bucaj: If I could have dinner with one person tonight it would be with my father. Unfortunately my dad past away 8 years ago of a sudden heart attack and I never got the chance to say goodbye. I would hug him and tell him just how much I love and miss him. I would sit my dad down and update him on my life and all the accomplishments I’ve received by the age of 22. I know he is very proud of me for becoming Miss New York USA 2016 and not giving up on my dreams.
