Burial Park on the road to Rock-n-Roll Success

Burial Park is a talented hard rock band from New York formed in 2008. The band is composed vocalist Rich Rampage, guitarist Giorgio LaCorte, guitarist John Keane, bassist Jesse Colliton and drummer Dave Colliton.

Burial Park is known for their complex compositions, eclectic harmony and whimsical lyrics. Burial Park started performing at local venues in 2010 amongst many benefit shows in support of Alzheimer’s, cancer and Down syndrome. They moved up to headline their first big sold-out show at The Studio at Webster Hall Studio in NYC. Later that year, B.P. entered a Battle of the Bands contest for a chance to play at the Mayhem Festival, coming in at 2nd place. “We haven’t come this far for us to be let down” is the motto of Burial Park; also known as the lyrics from their song “Unlovely”. From their continuous hard work and success, Burial Park was offered to play numerous shows at Starland Ballroom in NJ, sharing the stage with national bands such as D.R.I. and Powerman 5000.

In June 2013, B.P. released a three song EP as a preview of their twelve-song album. Burial Park’s released their self-titled debut album July 27th, 2013 following a concert at Santos Party House in NYC with metal band Straight Line Stitch on the same day.  In 2017 Burial Park is now signed by Beat Author Records with another full album in production.

Burial Park: all it takes is just one listen…

Meet the Band: NY Elite Interview with Burial Park

NY Elite: Tell us a little about the group and it’s members.

Burial Park: We are a hard rock/metal band that mixes catchy heavy guitar riffs with emotionally driven lyrics.  Distorted, clean, sung or screamed, We make music that satisfies our passion for our art and hope to translate and connect with our audience.

Burial Park:

Giorgio LaCorte – Lead Guitar

Jesse Colliton – Bass
David Colliton – Drums
John Keane – Rhythm Guitar
Rich Rampage – Song Writer/Vocalist

NY Elite: How did you get started and how would you describe your music?

Burial Park: Burial Park originally formed in 2008, out of Staten Island, NY. Original members, lead guitarist, Giorgio Lacorte, along side brothers Jesse Colliton on bass, and David Colliton on drums, have been rocking venues throughout New York and New Jersey and never let line up changes stop them. The band rounded out in late 2014 with the addition of John Keane on rhythm guitar and lead vocalist, Rich Rampage. We would desribe our music of the hard rock and metal influence. Whats great is that we all have complete freedom of our expression and influences, so we could really be heavy at times, but we are also always aware of our softer sides, so that chimes in as well.

NY Elite: What does art mean to you?

Burial Park: Art is the vessal that allows your spirit to truly express itself with complete freedom, without judgement or ignorance.

NY Elite: What projects are you currently working on?

Burial Park: Currently, we are in the process of writing and recording our first full length album under the Beat Author Record label. Our first single Horror Heart was just released on November 11, 2017 under Beat Author Records.  Our second single “The Phantom” is set to be released on December 16, 2017.

Beathe Author EP Photoshoot-8

NY Elite: Where was your last performance?

Burial Park: Last, we played at the Blue Room in Secaucus, NJ, at the Beat Author Concert and EP release party.

NY Elite: Where would you most like to perform and tell us about some of your favorite projects you have been part of.

Burial Park: BP is down to play anywhere in the world. Anywhere that allows us to share our music with hopes to make a connection with the listener. We recently collaborated with Beat Author and rapper 50 Racks for the track ‘BOOM’ featured on the Beat Author EP.

Some favorite venues are Starland Ballroom in NJ and the Gramarcy Theatre in NY. Rich had the humbling opportunity of playing some classic venues such as Birch Hill, L’amour’s, the Bowery Electric, and the late, great CBGB’s.

NY Elite: If you could try a new genre of music, what would it be?

Burial Park: Maybe have an trance/electronica element to our sound.

NY Elite: Do you enjoy writing music and/or lyrics?

Burial Park: We love it. Our writing process is an enjoyable experience, usually having the band running with one of Giorgio’s riffs, and later, Rich adds lyrics and melodies. To boot, we all have complete respect for each-other’s opinions and criticisms. Our goal is always to write the best song as possible, of coarse, but in the end, we feel a responsibility for the output we produce and we take it very seriously.

NY Elite: Do You Have a Formal Music Education / Training?

Burial Park: Rich had some theatre training as a kid but dropped it all when he join his first Rock band when he was 15.  We are all pretty much self taught musicians. Giorgio writes the music and Rich writes the lyrics. Our original lyrics and sound are inspired by our life experiences as well as the changing world around us. We are also inspired by the greatest musicians that we listen to, they’ve paved the way for our unique sound.

NY Elite: Do you play any instruments?

Burial Park: Dave used to play on pots and pans but then he bought a drum set.

Yes we do. Our equipment includes gear from ESP, Schecter, Gibson, Taylor, Paul Reed Smith and Yamaha drums.

NY Elite: What hidden talents do you have?

Burial Park: Dave is one hell of a dancer.  Rich is the best neighborhood mail man and Jesse works for the electrical union.

NY Elite: Who Are Your Musical Influences?

Burial Park: We’re really, all, influenced by all musical genres. From classic rock, heavy metal to pop , hip hop, and raggae. It’s all a love for music.

NY Elite: What personal advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue this career?

Burial Park: If there’s a will, there’s a way. Never stray from your path, never be your own enemy, and never sell yourself short. If you want it bad enough, it will be yours.

NY Elite: What can we expect from you in 2017? Any tour plans?

Burial Park: December 16, 2017 we’ll be back at the Blue Room in Secaucus, NJ for Toys For Tots charity event held by Tim McMurtrie’s Tripsquad Productions.. We hope to release our album Summer of 2018. Beat Author Records signed a world-wide distribution deal with Tripsquad Productions that will be distributed through Cataclysm Records.
