Marci Hopkins is the creator and host of Coffee With Marci. Marci has always been driven by her creative side and she quickly found her true passion in television at the Art Institute of Houston.
She started her career at Paramount 20 Century FOX and quickly climbed the corporate ladder serving multiple roles within the Programming group. Ultimately, Marci had the opportunity to move to Los Angeles to serve as the Director of On-Air Promotions for FX Network. A cross-country move to New Jersey with her family led Marci to train with John Pallotta in New York City, followed by training at Actors Connection, Actors Technique, along improvisation training at The PIT. Marci saw immediate success in front of the camera and was hired for several Discovery ID Network programs, some amazing Independent Films, Indie Films, web series, commercials, and TV Pilots.
Marci then found her true calling and harnessed her talents for acting, television programming, and community leader while also spotting a trend and created a talk show titled “Coffee with Marci.” With the huge push by Facebook to grow its video business Marci found that Facebook was the best platform to connect with her audience.
Meet the Artist: NY Elite Interview with Marci Hopkins
NY Elite: What are you currently working on?
Marci Hopkins: At this time Coffee with Marci has a Smart Beauty Campaign during the month of May. CWM is featuring multiple doctors and experts in the field of beauty and integrative medicine. CWM will have topics like, “Unlocking your DNA” which helps women and men feel their best with supplements, hormones, minerals, and more… tailored specifically for each individual.
Along with other doctors helping women look their best with the latest non-surgical cosmetic treatments and multiple beauty and makeup tips by beauty experts. CWM will also feature an expert holistic nutritionist and chef to help women eat healthy on the go and prep for nutritious meals during the week. Smart Beauty is about fighting the aging process and feeling your best. I am also preparing to interview multiple honorees on the red carpet on 5/6 for the “NJ Hall of Fame Red Carpet Inductee Ceremony”, in Asbury Park, NJ.
Tell us a little bit more about your talk show “Coffee with Marci”.
Marci Hopkins: Coffee with Marci is a digital streaming talk show giving entrepreneurs and non-profits a voice. There are so many people doing amazing things and CWM provides a platform to tell their stories and share the services they provide to the community. Each of my guests inspire and empower the audience in so many ways, whether it’s their perseverance, ability to overcome obstacles, success, or the incredible way they help with the service of their business or their non for profit mission.
NY Elite: What inspired the creation of the show?
Marci Hopkins: I am very involved with multiple non profits and friendly with business owners and I took note of how difficult it was to stand out. I also wanted to give back to my community by giving them a platform to spread their word and make others aware of what’s available for them in the community. Offering a community within a community.
NY Elite: Can you tell us about the upcoming shows?
Marci Hopkins: In addition to our Smart Beauty Series in May, I have will multiple entrepreneurs, authors and doctors in June.
NY Elite: What are three social issues that are most important to you and why?
Marci Hopkins: Sexual Abuse – No one should be harassed, abused or raped. I want to help those that have been affected and let them know they are not alone and that there is help.
Addiction – All families are faced with addiction in some way, and most do not understand the affect it has on the individual and others, nor the nature of the disease.
Animal Abuse – Cruelty to animals truly breaks my heart. These poor innocent creatures suffer at the hands of humans. They look to us for care and love and only want to love us in return.
NY Elite: What is the biggest lesson you have learned in your career?
Marci Hopkins: That failure makes you stronger, teaches you life lessons and there is no reason to fear failure. You must fail to succeed.
NY Elite: What are you an advocate of? What are your life passions?
Marci Hopkins: I am an advocate for women’s rights and one of my missions is to empower each woman and inspire them to believe in themselves.
I am an advocate against human trafficking.
My life’s passion is empowering others to find their passion.
Being confident in myself working out, hiking with my dogs, traveling, going to movies,
reading and most importantly, spending time with my husband and two children.
NY Elite: What are your career/life aspirations?
Marci Hopkins: I aspire to grow my platform to allow my guests a voice to reach a wider array of people to make a greater impact. It’s time to celebrate others and help those on their quest to make change in this world.
NY Elite: Highlight some of your accomplishments or memorable moments so far?
Marci Hopkins: Launching the show on Facebook Live with the idea to help others and seeing what it has grown into. I have two shows a week, a studio, I provide a professionally edited piece for my guests to use on social media and their websites. I have grown my social media followers from 200 to over 4000 on Instagram, and over 2000 on Facebook and now am on “NJ on Air”, a digital streaming network on Apple, Android and Roku. I have a producer helping to make the show the best it can be and a team helping me to make sure that the marketing is the best it can be to build awareness for each show. I have been featured on WCBS and multiple publications sharing about CWM. Every guest I have is a memorable moment and I feel blessed. All of this has happened in just over a year.
Some accomplishments of the show has been to help open the doors for a safe haven for battered women. After the run of the show they were able to raise the funds necessary to open the doors and all furniture was donated through the help of the audience. CWM has also helped women who have battled breast cancer find their new beautiful self. After the show aired talking about the non-profit there were multiple people that wanted to help the foundation. Over time a show airs highlighting an entrepreneur and they then have a boost in business and awareness I feel that is an accomplishment.
NY Elite: What’s next for you?
Marci Hopkins: To build Coffee With Marci and make it grow building on the momentum the show currently has. I am also looking to help launch several new shows with some great talent.
I want our guests to know CWM is a place where they can tell their story and at the same time impact people to make a difference. I often wear a dragon fly necklace that my husband gave me as a gift and his mom gave me a piece of artwork with a dragon fly that I have on my studio set for Coffee With Marci. They’re beautiful but more importantly they symbolize transformation. Since dragonflies cannot walk, they fly in many directions. I’d like our audience to know that anything in life is possible and no matter what the struggle they can transform and fly.
