Željko Božić brings dance and storytelling together in Letter
Slovenian dancer and choreographer Željko Božić combines spoken words and movement in Letter, his 2017 dance-film project. Created with dancers from Kazina, the work addresses self-doubt, self-esteem and the pressure to measure up.
Božić’s background spans ballroom and Latin-American dance, jazz and show dance, with hip-hop becoming a central influence. That range carries into his choreography, where movement serves the story rather than remaining a display of technique alone.
His work as a teacher at Ljubljana’s Kazina dance school sits alongside choreography and performance. Letter brings those interests together in a compact screen work about insecurities that dancers and audiences can recognise.
