Carlos Freire’s Terraza 7 heads to IFFNY
Carlos Freire’s documentary Terraza 7 is heading to the International Filmmaker Festival of New York. The director shared the screening announcement on May 12, 2018.
The film takes its name from the Queens music venue, a gathering place for musicians, artists and neighbourhood audiences. Its subject connects cultural life in New York with the pressures of neighbourhood change.
The venue’s role in Jackson Heights extends beyond individual concerts: it gives performers a place to bring music and dance into the community. Freire’s documentary turns attention to that local setting and the people whose cultural work takes place there.
